Title: VINTAGE MAPS OF JAPAN: SUMIDA RIVER TOKYO #31
Condition: Very Good Size: 20 X 17.5 Publisher: Japan 1970 Artist: UNKNOWN
Seller ID: MAP0031
This is a stunning vintage map of Japan produced on specialty raw-silk like paper for which the Japanese are famous. One of a broken set, these circa 1960s-70s maps are reproductions of ancient Japanese maps from a set that originated from a museum or gallery showing of some distinction. The materials used are of handmade Japanese papers and they are on a beautiful almost butter-yellow silk feeling and slightly rough rag paper. They range from one color [black] to highly colored. Some are more obviously maps and some are city scenes as a map. They all have many Japanese markings and words but I have to leave it to the buyer to ascertain what they mean. The plates are 20"x 17.5" approximately. Many of the maps are the full size of the paper save for a small border. Some are larger than other. The picture should clarify the design but please ask if not sure. As to condition, please view the picture provided but overall these are in very good shape with hardly a rough edge or wrinkle though the odd one is inherent in the rough rag paper. Any faults that will affect the map be framed will be mentioned. Each plate has been folded and each has a light, discreet number in the lower right corner. These will look sensational framed. It is in very good condition and perfect for framing. All maps are shipped in mailing tubes and up to six [6] can be sent for the same postage and packaging cost of $8.99 to North America or $11.99 internationally.
